After industrial explosives expert William “Lucky” Davis (William Cagney) falls for secretary Marian Leslie (Marion Burns), his blue-collar co-workers, Jimmy Pierson (Robert Armstrong) and Bob Owens (Edgar Kennedy), forge a letter that throws the new lovers into a fit of jealousy and confusion. In the wake of the breakup, Lucky, Pierson and Owens travel to South America to develop a new explosive — and find themselves competing for the heart of local beauty Rosita (Maria Alba).
