Toni le Braun is a Opera Singer hopeful who gets a letter from Budapest saying she has a job singing. Unfortunately, she soon learns that the local in which she is singing is not an opera house but a cabaret. When she refuses the advances of one of the rich patrons of the cabaret, and the wardrobe mistress helps her escape, they are both fired. What Toni does not know is that the wardrobe mistress is a baroness, whose husband was killed in the great war. Rather than loose her old life, she works all year and when she gets her husbands yearly cheque (like pension i think) she lives in Monte Carlo the way she did before the war, until her money runs out, and then she returns to Budapest. Toni is now the Baroness’ ward, and two men (uncle and nephew) fall in love with her. Toni becomes engaged to the young Richard. [...]
