A family moves out to the ‘peaceful’ suburbs where everything goes wrong, including the mother-in-law moving in.

The camera was stationed at the corner of Broadway and Fourteenth Street, and was swept in almost a complete circle, showing the tremendous drifts of snow and the blockade at ‘Dead Man’s Curve’ in Fourteenth Street. This picture was taken during the busiest time of the day, and shows to what extent New York City was tied up by this tremendous fall of snow.”

The Duff family shares a duplex bungalow with a police sergeant and his wife. While the Duffs endure a series of trials in making a home and finding ways to relax, the policeman is worried about tracking down Gypsy Joe and his gang. Soon, everyone involved meets up under unlikely and hazardous circumstances.

As Colonel Nutt is experimenting with explosives, a new janitor is joining his household. The inept janitor proceeds to make life difficult for the rest of staff. Meanwhile, a foreign agent arrives at the house in hopes of getting Col. Nutt’s latest invention. The inventor throws him out, so the agent then employs a thug to get the formula. When police head to the Nutt home to start an investigation, a complicated fracas ensues.

We get a good view of the famous old Kremlin from different angles, then a view of the city taken from one of the high towers. Next we see Petrovsky Park and some of the main thoroughfares during a heavy blizzard in which the inhabitants go about well muffled up and seemingly undaunted by the severe cold atmosphere.
