Salome 1922

This Nazimova produced film is based on the scandalous play of the same name by Oscar Wilde. Salome, daughter of Herodias, seduces her step-father/uncle Herod, governor of Judea with a sensual dance. In return for this “favor” he promises her the head of John The Baptist. An interesting look at one of the silent screen’s most fascinating personalities. Dir. Charles Bryant
