The Modified Thrie Beam Guardrail 1990
The Modified Thrie Beam Guardrail – Federal Highway Administration – the thrie beam guardrail has been modified to improve performance in large-vehicle impacts by increasing the depth and energy-absorbing capacity of the block-out. Crash tests show that this design can safely contain and redirect a wider range of vehicles than other W-beam designs. Terminals and transitions are shown. Costs of installation and repair are discussed, and the design is recommended for sites with heavy traffic.
